Project Description:

This project was commissioned in 2004 to be the City’s second in-ground large scale skatepark. The majority of the City’s other existing concrete skateparks typically have bowls and flow courses with radiused transitions and limited “streetscape” elements. In order to provide a larger variety of skate opportunities in the City, the Alamosa facility is designed more as a park to skate.

The ARTIFEX team met with the city and local riders and researched the local culture, architecture and skate spots in order to establish our key areas of focus.

Distinctive Features:

  • Design inspired by Albuquerque’s arroyo drainage system and local skate spots

  • Trend to provide a campus or civic plaza feel

  • Use integrated landscaping and site grading

  • No perimeter fence and multiple entry points creates unlimited lines of circulation

made a trip out there for a conference last week...been skating for 15 years - this was the sickest park ive ever skated! wouldn't change a thing. Allows you to be creative. No mistakes in concrete work. I am raising funds right now to build my own dream park - I hope its as good as this one. Big up!!
